1. You are starting a brand new journey. Like all things new. It will take time, discipline, focus and dedication. Take it easy on yourself, but remember, daily progress is more important than binging last minute.

2. Learn how to learn. You cannot study effectively looking at your phone every time an alert goes off. Put your cellphone in another room when you are studying. It should not be anywhere near your hand or easily accessible.

3. Social media is a killer of progress, studying and creativity. The #1 most effective way to learn large amounts of information that is unfamiliar is to uninstall apps from your device (phone, tablet, etc). Physically take a pen and write down your girls within 1 year and tape it to the wall and your bathroom mirror. Update it weekly!

4. Tell Family and Friends that are supportive what you are about to do. Let them know that you will not be available or accessible during this critical transition. Talk to only people who will be helpful for your journey.

5. Avoid and stay away from all negative people or negative interactions at this critical time.

6. Sleep every night at a reasonble hour. Get your rest. Exercise for at least 20 minutes of rigourous activity (or consult your doctor) daily and do not eat junk food or fast food. What you do to your body is super critical for studying. Treat it well and your mind will treat you well.

The most common Linux operating system used by the US Federal Government is Red Hat Enterprise Linux. You will find developers routinely using Ubuntu, but you will always see Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) used on the server side for Datacenters, Cloud (AWS, GCP or Azure) or inside of VMware on-premise. You can learn on Rocky Linux (RHEL rebuild) or you can download RHEL directly and use up to 16 servers of RHEL. If you plan on working in the Federal Government or for large corporations. I would highly recommend that you focus on learning Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) over all other distributions.
